Hempstead Lake State Park Alliance (HLSPA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving and showcasing Hempstead Lake State Parks’ numerous features that make it a unique place on Long Island as well as bringing new activities to the park. Ever since Hempstead Lake State Park was on a proposed list of state parks to close due to budget problems in 2010, the need for an organization to help keep the park open was needed and now there is one. We formed in February of 2012 and are a group of citizens from West Hempstead and Floral Park and are always looking for more people from surrounding communities to help join the cause.
We are open to any ideas and suggestions and would love to hear from anyone who has interest in helping us bring this park to its full potential. We know the power of partnerships and without the, this organization cannot grow and help the park as best we can. As we say, we are bringing nature back to the community and we cannot do that without the help of you- members of the community. So please join us in this exciting new adventure by joining up for our email list, where we send out with important news about events at the park. See you at the park real soon
